Election Year Fundraising: Insights and Strategies
AFP-NYC Partner Webinar
As we get closer to this year’s monumental Presidential election, the nonprofit sector is preparing for various outcomes and questioning the implications the election may have on charitable giving. In this webinar, we will assess historical data, highlighting what we can learn from past political giving, and offer strategies nonprofits can deploy to navigate this uncertain time. Together, we’ll share experiences, discuss tactics for engaging donors, and prepare for the ways in which these events will shape fundraising in the year to come.

PANELISTS:
Shawn McKay
Senior Vice President, CCS Fundraising
As the son of a registered nurse and healthcare administrator, Shawn has always felt called to work for and with nonprofits. This calling was further cultivated while attending the College of the Holy Cross (Worcester, MA) and the charge to be, “men and women for others.” With this desire to serve, Shawn’s career has been exclusively devoted to environmental, educational, healthcare, arts, and faith-based nonprofits.
Shawn began his career as a Mental Health Worker at Butler Hospital (Providence, RI). Subsequently, he spent nearly eight years as the Director of Admissions and Communications at Saint Raphael Academy (Pawtucket, RI). In his nine years with CCS, Shawn has led transformational capital campaigns, major gift efforts, development programs, feasibility and planning studies, organizational assessments, and interim management engagements. He partners with clients to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major individual, corporate, and foundation donors; create compelling cases for support and related donor communications; recruit, train, and manage volunteer leadership; design plans to meet target goals and outcomes; and implement efficient operational workflows to drive sustainable impact.
Shawn is a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross (Worcester, MA), and currently serves on the Advisory Board of Saint Raphael Academy (Pawtucket, RI). He resides in West Orange, NJ with his wife, Tracy, and their daughters, Sloane, and Quinn. He has a passion for technology, music, theater, and design. Shawn is also a classically trained singer and has performed in many choirs, musicals, and plays.
